  1. Day.2 Readings from ‘Man of Peace/ Desire of Ages’

    Chapter 15. “Miracle at the Marriage Feast”

    Three things that stood out to me:

     1.The only hope of redemption for our fallen race is in Christ; Mary could find salvation only through the Lamb of God. In herself she possessed no merit. Her connection with Jesus placed her in no different spiritual relation to Him from that of any other human soul. 

    2.The wine which Christ provided for the feast, and that which He gave to the disciples as a symbol of His own blood, was the pure juice of the grape. To this the prophet Isaiah refers when he speaks of the new wine “in the cluster,” and says, “Destroy it not; for a blessing is in it.” Isa_65:8.—IT WAS NOT ALCOHOL , don’t get it twisted folks.

    3.As men set forth the best wine first, then afterward that which is            worse, so does the world with its gifts. That which it offers may please the eye and fascinate the senses, but it proves to be unsatisfying. The wine turns to bitterness, the gaiety to gloom. That which was begun with songs and mirth ends in weariness and disgust. But the gifts of Jesus are ever fresh and new. The feast that He provides for the soul never fails to give satisfaction and joy. Each new gift increases the capacity of the receiver to appreciate and enjoy the blessings of the Lord. He gives grace for grace.

     
     

  2. Day.1 Readings from ‘Man of Peace/ Desire of Ages’

    Chapter. 14 “We have found the Messiah”

    Three things that stood out to me:

    1. Jesus came as a poor and humble person so that He could be our example as well as our Savior. If He appeared as a king, how could He teach humility? How could He preach about serving others with love?

    2. John answered with the words of the prophet Isaiah “I am the voice of one crying in the wilderness, ‘Make straight the way of the Lord’”. John 1:23.  —Anciently, when a king journeyed through the less frequented parts of his dominion, a company of men was sent ahead of the royal chariot to level the steep places and to fill up the hollows, that the king might travel in safety and without hindrance. This custom is employed by the prophet to illustrate the work of the gospel. “Every valley shall be exalted, and every mountain and hill shall be made low.” When the Spirit of God, with its marvelous awakening power, touches the soul, it abases human pride. Worldly pleasure and position and power are seen to be worthless. “Imaginations, and every high thing that exalteth itself against the knowledge of God” are cast down; every thought is brought into captivity “to the obedience of Christ.” 2Co_10:5. Then humility and self-sacrificing love, so little valued among men, are exalted as alone of worth. This is the work of the gospel, of which John’s message was a part.  {DA 135.1}  

    3. By becoming human, Jesus grasped hands with the sons and daughters of Adam. By remaining divine, He holds tightly to the throne of God. Jesus is the connection between God and humanity.

The day after she passed away my 4-year-old daughter Meredith was crying and talking about how much she missed Abbey. She asked if we could write a letter to God so that when Abbey got to heaven, God would recognize her. I told her that I thought we could so, and she dictated these words: Dear God,Will you please take care of my dog? She died yesterday and is with you in heaven. I miss her very much. I am happy that you let me have her as my dog even though she got sick. I hope you will play with her. She likes to swim and play with balls. I am sending a picture of her so when you see her you will know that she is my dog. I really miss her. Love, MeredithWe put the letter in an envelope with a picture of Abbey and Meredith and addressed it to God/Heaven. We put our return address on it. Then Meredith pasted several stamps on the front of the envelope because she said it would take lots of stamps to get the letter all the way to heaven. That afternoon she dropped it into the letter box at the post office. A few days later, she asked if God had gotten the letter yet. I told her that I thought He had.Yesterday, there was a package wrapped in gold paper on our front porch addressed, ‘To Meredith’ in an unfamiliar hand. Meredith opened it. Inside was a book by Mr. Rogers called, ‘When a Pet Dies.’ Taped to the inside front cover was the letter we had written to God in its opened envelope. On the opposite page was the picture of Abbey & Meredith and this note: Dear Meredith, Abbey arrived safely in heaven. Having the picture was a big help and I recognized her right away. Abbey isn’t sick anymore. Her spirit is here with me just like it stays in your heart. Abbey loved being your dog. Since we don’t need our bodies in heaven, I don’t have any pockets to keep your picture in so I am sending it back to you in this little book for you to keep and have something to remember Abbey by. Thank you for the beautiful letter and thank your mother for helping you write it and sending it to me. What a wonderful mother you have. I picked her especially for you. I send my blessings every day and remember that I love you very much. By the way, I’m easy to find. OH GOD. awww thats cute. lol. i dont want to be a kill joy but her dog is not in heaven YET. when someone dies or even your pet animal, they are asleep resting peacefully until Jesus comes back again to get us. another thing that i like to put it is that if we were to die right now and ascend to heaven, would we really be at peace (since heaven is peace)? No. we wouldnt because we would be too worried about our friends and families on earth. but it is true that we will go to heaven one day and soon. Hollywood and the media did a great job into brainwashing us to believe that we go to heaven right away or to be some type of spirit floating around the earth. its not parallel to Scripture, scripture doesnt teach that…otherwise i’d jump off a bridge right now to go to heaven haha… i want to bring up ghosts and spirit but now i’d just be typing up a sermon Lol… whoever reads this be Blessed! :]

    awww thats cute. lol. i dont want to be a kill joy but her dog is not in heaven YET. when someone dies or even your pet animal, they are asleep resting peacefully until Jesus comes back again to get us. another thing that i like to put it is that if we were to die right now and ascend to heaven, would we really be at peace (since heaven is peace)? No. we wouldnt because we would be too worried about our friends and families on earth. but it is true that we will go to heaven one day and soon. Hollywood and the media did a great job into brainwashing us to believe that we go to heaven right away or to be some type of spirit floating around the earth. its not parallel to Scripture, scripture doesnt teach that…otherwise i’d jump off a bridge right now to go to heaven haha… i want to bring up ghosts and spirit but now i’d just be typing up a sermon Lol… whoever reads this be Blessed! :]
